GSF Youth Orchestra Festival

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the inaugural Youth Orchestra Festival 2023, jointly organised by the Global Strings Federation and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, National University of Singapore. This event will be held from 4-11th July, at the conservatory, and welcomes musicians from Singapore and internationally.

The festival aims to foster a mutually supportive environment for musicians to learn and experience the rich culture of classical orchestra  music. Comprising collaborative activities interspersed with professional masterclasses, workshops, sectionals, as well as immersion and local school exchanges, this festival aims to nurture musicians as a life-long passion, bringing like minded young musicians together.

There will be 3 categories for orchestras at different stages of development to participate and showcase their performances. Accordingly, each category is designed with different repertoire requirements to allow orchestras to receive recognition of attainment. Orchestra musicians will be able to learn from and inspire by each other with their performances. Conductors will also be able to experience conducting and rehearsing different orchestras that aims to promote exposure and peer exchanges. Participating orchestras will appear in a festival closing gala concert at the world-class facility of Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore.

We believe that this festival serves as an unique platform for young orchestras to gain local and international exposure, while helping bring young musicians from far afield closer together.
